Kids love riding bikes, but are typically burdened with heavy knobby tired mountain bikes. The Allez 650 gives them the low rolling resistance and efficient pedaling posture of an adult road bike allowing them to zoom along for miles with much less effort. Family bike tours, kids’ races, or just getting to school easier are all the domain of the Allez. You may even find yourself the one trying to keep up!

Fat bike around Block Island.

Round the Block

One of my first adventures on the Specialized Fatboy; a 20-mile circumnavigation of Block Island, RI. Absolutely convinced me that fat bikes were the door to a whole new world of riding.

GPS track of the course, including ferry trip.

From the ferry in New Shoreham, I rode across the island to the breachway  at the Coast Guard station on the west side. From there, I’d stay right on the shore for the entire counter-clockwise trip.

Sand, cobbles, seaweed…were all passable terrain for the massive tires. Although certainly challenging in spots, nearly every bit was rideable.

Fat for the masses!

All terrain bikes from Framed have landed at Stedmans. Prices start at an amazing $739 (!!!) for the Minnesota 1.0 (red) and only $999 for the Minnesota 2.0 (black w/ green). More models are on the way.
