Thinking of joining us Wednesday evening for Local Trail Night?
Please note that due to our recent snowfall trail conditions have changed dramatically over the past 48 hours- if you’re planning to join this evening’s ride from Whaler’s please be aware that mountain bikes are NOT recommended. Trust us on this one, fat bikes & plus bikes with tire widths of 3-5” will make the experience much more enjoyable.
We’re excited to host NEHSCA Team Night Monday, November 5th at the shop at 630pm! The New England High School Cycling Association is one of the fastest-growing youth cycling groups in the northeast and a great way to introduce kids to the sport.
NEHSCA is gearing up for our third year of mountain bike racing across New England. Our stated goal is, “to put kids on bikes”. This year we are on target to have 600 kids signed up with our teams. Though, most of our riders race, many choose not to and are just out to go for a ride. Regardless of your reason to ride, our motto is, “No bike, No experience, No problem.”
Location: Stedman’s Bike Shop 196 Main Street Wakefield RI Time: 630pm Cost: Free!
Everett Stedman was a remarkable man who, for decades, had a significant influence on the bike shop and the community it serves. He passed away Tuesday December 6, 2016 at the age of 90.
On Sunday January 15th, we invited friends, family and customers to join us to ride together in his memory. Everett had two routes that he was known to frequently ride out of the shop: to Clarks Falls in Connecticut and to the Train Station via the bike path in West Kingston.
Enroute, stories were told and memories were shared of this South County icon who was responsible for introducing so many to the world of bicycles. Everett was a good man and he will be missed and remembered by all of us here at the shop.
