Looking like another wonderful day for a ride! Come join us for 1 of 2 routes this week: 30 miler heads out to Richmond in multiple groups at varying speeds; shorter loop is one group riding 24 miles thru URI and Shannock at a cruising speed ~15mph.

We will stagger the starts beginning this week to keep the groups independent, just like last year. Fastest group first.

3/16 Shop Ride

***Back to 8 am starting time***

Welcome to the weekend! With the shop ride season underway we figure now is a good time to revisit the shop ride format. We will break the ride up into multiple groups just like last year.

Our Saturday rides typically split into 3-4 groups based upon pace and each group will be limited to 14-16 riders for safety’s sake:

“Short” loop group: A great place to start if you are looking to try group riding or aren’t looking to do the mileage of the long loop. This group will ride around 25 miles together with cruising speeds of about 15-16 mph on flat roads. No rider left behind.

Long loop groups:

First group (approaches 25+ mph cruising speeds): this group moves fast! Fun, friendly group, but at times can feel a bit like a race. Riders will get dropped, BUT have no fear because coming down the road is the..

Second group (around 22ish mph on flat roads): this group also moves right along, but at a  pace that allows for the catching of one’s breath. There are occasional regroups if riders drift back a bit. As the ride goes on, part of this group usually splits off into..

Third group : this group forms to get the rest of group 2 home. It will still move along nicely, but the pain should be over 🙂 . As the “sweep” group, if you find yourself here, please stay together and do not leave anyone behind.

As the size of the shop ride grows as the days get nicer, there will be 4th and 5th groups. Likely moving along at the same pace as group 3, but created so no one group is too big.

Great fun to be had and a riding group for just about everyone.

With no further ado, here are your routes:

Long route: 34 miles out into Charlestown/Richmond – multiple groups and speeds: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29489268

Shorter route: 25 miles into Shannock – ~15 mph cruising speed; stays together: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29489302

As always: Helmets Required. Bring water, tubes, pump, route map, etc.

Hope to see you there!!

Come join us in the virtual world of Zwift at 6:15 for a 28 mile (about 90 minute) group ride targeting an endurance pace (2.0-2.5 w/kg) for a majority of the ride. The ride tonight is on “The London Pretzel” course and features the climb up the Box Hill KOM Climb where we will open things up and race the climb. Rather than regrouping at the end of the descent, we will roll through easy to the end of the meetup which is set to 45km/28 miles, about 6 km following the end of the descent.

With daylight lasting later and the weather getting warmer, this will be the last weekly Zwift ride of the season hosted by the shop.

Note that the rider with the yellow chevron above their character is your ride leader.

In order to join the Meetup you need to be following “Jimmi H. Stedman” on Zwift. Tonight’s ride is featuring the London Pretzel course.

Please make sure to wear the black and yellow bumblebee jersey named “basic 1” to help identify the folks in the group.
