3/16 Shop Ride

***Back to 8 am starting time***

Welcome to the weekend! With the shop ride season underway we figure now is a good time to revisit the shop ride format. We will break the ride up into multiple groups just like last year.

Our Saturday rides typically split into 3-4 groups based upon pace and each group will be limited to 14-16 riders for safety’s sake:

“Short” loop group: A great place to start if you are looking to try group riding or aren’t looking to do the mileage of the long loop. This group will ride around 25 miles together with cruising speeds of about 15-16 mph on flat roads. No rider left behind.

Long loop groups:

First group (approaches 25+ mph cruising speeds): this group moves fast! Fun, friendly group, but at times can feel a bit like a race. Riders will get dropped, BUT have no fear because coming down the road is the..

Second group (around 22ish mph on flat roads): this group also moves right along, but at a  pace that allows for the catching of one’s breath. There are occasional regroups if riders drift back a bit. As the ride goes on, part of this group usually splits off into..

Third group : this group forms to get the rest of group 2 home. It will still move along nicely, but the pain should be over šŸ™‚ . As the “sweep” group, if you find yourself here, please stay together and do not leave anyone behind.

As the size of the shop ride grows as the days get nicer, there will be 4th and 5th groups. Likely moving along at the same pace as group 3, but created so no one group is too big.

Great fun to be had and a riding group for just about everyone.

With no further ado, here are your routes:

Long route: 34 miles out into Charlestown/Richmond – multiple groups and speeds:

Shorter route: 25 miles into Shannock – ~15 mph cruising speed; stays together:

As always: Helmets Required. Bring water, tubes, pump, route map, etc.

Hope to see you there!!

3/9 Shop Ride

Sunny and seasonal on Saturday. Come join us for a bike ride!

We have a 30 mile ride planned this week. Headed out through Shannock Village and back. Temperatures are threatening to be above freezing and even near 40 by ride’s end! Looking like another great day in South County.

The ride will offer multiple groups at varying pace. There will be a casual loop available (cuts mileage down to ~25) if folks are interested. Somebody keep Sean company!

Saturday rides roll each week from the shop. ***830Ā startĀ timeĀ thisĀ week***
