Tri-Pond Park Clean Up Day: Sunday May 19th

Help us keep our local woods and trails free and clear of debris by joining the gang on Sunday 5/19 for a morning of trail work and trash clean up.

We’ll be meeting at the South Kingstown Public Works Department at 8am to organize before heading out into the local woods of Tri-Pond Park. Gloves, trash grabbers, bug spray, etc. will all be provided but be sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

These woods and trails are some of the greatest features South Kingstown has to offer and they’re right in out back yard. Let’s team up to keep this area pristine for all the hikers, runners and cyclists who enjoy them on a daily basis. Hope to see you there!

Tuesday Night is Ladies Night: Weekly Rides All Spring & Summer Long

Welcome to the Tuesday Women’s Rides!

When: Spring and Summer Tuesdays. Road ride starting at 5:30 pm

Where: Stedman’s Bike Shop, Wakefield
Who: Ladies with bikes and helmets.

The Stedman’s Women’s ride was started in 2012 with a small group of South County cyclists, and has in the last six years grown to a large group of women who gather weekly. We want to help women find a fun and welcoming community to ride with and help develop their riding abilities.

The Tuesday night ride is a road ride that starts at 5:30 from Stedman’s shop and heads out towards the Kingston Train Station, which is mile 6. From here, we split into 3 groups based on speed and distance. Three groups with cruising speeds (not average speed!) of 14-16 mph, 16-18 mph, and 18+ mph on flat roads will cover between 20-35 miles depending on the week and group. Our goals include improving riding skills within a group, overall confidence on the bike, specific skills such as handling, drafting, and cornering. We also aim to create a happy and fun ladies cycling community! We require a well-maintained road bike and a helmet and ask that you are comfortable maintaining 15 mph on a flat road when riding alone.

How to get involved:

Each week’s routes will be posted here and on Facebook by Monday.
