Welcome to the weekend! With summer unofficially underway we figure now is a good time to revisit the format of our shop ride. No real changes, just posting for information.
Our Saturday rides typically split into 3-4 groups based upon pace:
“Short” loop group: A great place to start if you are looking to try group riding or aren’t looking to do the mileage of the long loop. This group will ride around 25 miles together with cruising speeds of about 15-16mph on flat roads.
Long loop groups:
First group (approaches 25+ mph cruising speeds): this group moves fast! Fun, friendly group, but at times will feel a bit like a race. Riders will get dropped, BUT have no fear because coming down the road is the..
Second group (around 22ish mph on flat roads): this group also moves right along, but at a pace that allows for the catching of one’s breath. There are occasional regroups if riders drift back a bit. As the ride goes on, part of this group usually splits off into..
Third group : this group forms to get the rest of group 2 home. It will still move along nicely, but the pain should be over . As the “sweep” group, if you find yourself here, please try to stay together and not leave anyone behind.
Great fun to be had and a riding group for just about everyone.
For rides at an even more casual pace, keep an eye out for our Mellow Monday rides. Bike path rides to the train station and back each Monday at 615.
