This year we’ll be exploring South County’s trails and beaches- including Narragansett, Moonstone & East Matunuck- as well as hooking up with local businesses for ride HQ. Just like in past years these rides will roll at a social pace and typically take approx. 1.5 hours.

To top it all off these rides are free and all are welcome to join. Over the years riders have donated thousands of pounds of non-perishable food and countless warm clothes to local charities. Help us help others by participating in this great event.

Big thanks to Light & Motion for sponsoring this series- lights available upon request.

Don’t have a fat bike? We have limited demos available on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations are required as these rides fill up fast and regularly have waiting lists. We reserve the right to prioritize first-time participants for demo bikes over those who have ridden previously.

In the Books: November FMBR at the Ocean Mist

We gathered under the Supermoon Monday Nov. 14th at the Ocean Mist for the latest in our series of Full Moon Beach Rides…Matunuck. 60 Riders joined us to explore parts of Roy Carpenters Beach, East Matunuck Beach and Jerusalem as well as nearby trails and marshes.

The seven mile ride took just over an hour to complete, and upon return to the Mist and a good post-ride bike wash riders were treated to tacos and IPAs inside at the bar.

Thank you to everybody who supported the ride, either by helping organize and simply being there and riding with us. The FMBR will be back in December with a new location and adventure…stay tuned for details and hope you can make it.

Monday at the Mist: Full Moon Fat Bike Beach Ride Route, Details and More

Looking for a one-of-a-kind way to experience the biggest Super Moon since 1948? Join us Monday the 14th at 630pm at the Ocean Mist for a fat bike ride on Roy Carpenter’s, Moonstone and East Matunuck Beaches. This event is free (with donated canned goods) and welcome to all with a fat bike.

FAQ

What time is the ride?
The ride LEAVES the Ocean Mist at 630pm. Please arrive by 615pm (6pm if borrowing a bike) to ensure we stick to our timeline.

Do I need a fat bike?
Yes. We will be riding on several different types of terrain including loose sand, rocks, trail and dirt roads. The minimum required tire width is a knobby 3″ with an recommended/ideal width of 4″-5″.

Where does the ride go?
We’ll roll out from the parking lot next door to Ocean Mist at 630pm and proceed west on Roy Carpenter’s Beach. The ride will loop around by Card’s Pond and roll back to the east (past the Ocean Mist) to East Matunuck Beach and up Succotash Road towards Point Judith Pond. After a quick loop we’ll head back towards the Mist on East Matunuck with a few small detours as time allows.
CHECK OUT THE ROUTE HERE ON RIDEWITHGPS.COM

What does it cost?
This ride is free with the donation of canned goods and non-perishable food items for local charities. We ask all riders to contribute and help those less fortunate in the community.

What if I reserved a fat bike or light?
Please arrive at the Ocean Mist by 6pm and check in with Stedman’s Staff. We have a limited number of Light & Motion lights that will be distributed on a first come first served basis. Each demo bike will have the rider’s name on a sticker on the top tube; please locate your bike and we’ll adjust the seat height before letting you roll around a bit to get familiar with your new steed.

What should I bring?
Aside from the non-perishable food items mentioned earlier, all riders are required to bring a helmet, weather-appropriate clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty and a light.

What else?
Stick around for the after-party at the Mist, including food and drink specials and bingo at 8pm. Even if you can’t make the ride, come join us and support your local businesses (21+).
