Join us for the last Full Moon ride of our season: Local Trail Night on Saturday March 31st @ 6pm.
Help us make this our best ride yet! We’ll be hosting two routes out of the shop on the 31st- a beach ride and a trail ride. We’re also excited to team up with our neighbors from Tavern on Main for a private after-party starting at 730pm; all riders are invited to the restaurant for food, drinks and a sneak preview of their new digs before officially opening in April.
Starting Location: Stedman’s Bike Shop
196 Main Street, Wakefield RI
Rides & Destinations:
- Fat Bike Beach Ride (3″-5″ tires required): 1 Group riding to/on Narragansett Beach
– Local Trail Ride (2″-5″ tires): Multiple groups riding local trails off the South County Bike Path and beyond (groups formed based on ability)
Ride Time/Distance: Approximately 1.5 hours & 6-10 miles
Terrain: Mix of pavement, dirt & sand
Cost: Free with donation of warm clothes and/or non-perishable food items
After Party Details: Starts @ 730pm at Tavern on Main. Food served, cash bar. (across the street from the shop)
Do I need to RSVP?
YES (please). A head count will help us plan groups, routes and food. Call the shop or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your desired ride and we’ll take it from there.
What time is the ride?
The ride LEAVES the shop at 6pm. Please arrive by 545pm (530pm if borrowing a bike) to ensure we stick to our timeline.
Do I need a fat bike?
Only for the Beach Ride. This group will be riding on several different types of terrain including loose sand, rocks, trail and dirt roads. The minimum required tire width is a knobby 3″ with an recommended/ideal width of 4″-5″.
**The Local Trail Ride will not require a fat bike**
Where do the rides go?
Beach Ride: We’ll be riding down the bike path into Narragansett, taking trails through the woods to the Narragansett Beach, riding the length of the beach to Narrow River, then backtracking towards Wakefield to the shop with detours as time allows.
Trail Ride: This will be your opportunity to experience some of our favorite local trails (and a few secret ones) right in our backyard. Most of the riding will be accessible from the bike path or just beyond.
What does it cost?
This ride is free with the donation of canned goods and non-perishable food items for local charities. We ask all riders to contribute and help those less fortunate in the community.
What if I don’t have a mountain bike or fat bike?
*Please indicate which ride you’d like to join when requesting a bike*.
We have a limited number of demo bikes available on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations are required as these bikes fill up fast and regularly have waiting lists. We reserve the right to prioritize first-time participants for demo bikes over those who have ridden previously.
Will I need a light? What if I don’t have one?
Please arrive at the shop by 545pm and check in with Stedman’s staff. We have a limited number of Light & Motion lights that will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
What should I bring?
Aside from the non-perishable food items mentioned earlier, all riders are required to bring a bike, helmet, light & weather-appropriate clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty and a light.
Stick around for the after-party at Tavern on Main (195 Main Street, Wakefield RI). The gang at TOM have agreed to host us before officially opening in April- be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to check them out!
